I originally designed these worksheets for use once a week, for the first 15-20 minutes of a grammar/ spelling/ proofreading focused workshop with 9-12 grade students.
These activities are funny, literate, and self-explanatory. In some of them, students go on timed "scavenger hunts" to spot as many words with the specified roots as possible. In others, students get to be creative and use learned word roots to invent new words. All activities heavily support reading comprehension and spelling. Many also include creative writing and group work elements.
This is a full course designed to be completed in order. Each activity assumes that the student has learned the roots in the preceding activities. This course includes review activities and three quizzes.
(Please note that I do teach in a Christian school. There is one Christmas themed lesson that was specifically designed for my school's faith orientation.)
