I have a bunch of kids working on carry-over that are older and I needed something with phrases or sentences. So I’ve gone back and reworked one of my favorite speech games. Rock, Paper, Scissors for Carryover has full sentences printed on each card, but if you’d prefer, you can just have students say the phrase in bold.
As always, cards are organized by sound and position. You will need one set of cards to play. Each set consists of 10 rock cards, 10 paper cards and 10 scissors cards. If you need to target multiple sounds/positions, simply make sure you have 10 of each rock, paper and scissors cards. The word on the card has no impact on the game. This set includes phrase/sentence cards for initial R, medial and final cards for AR, EAR, AIR, IRE, ER and OR.
***There is only one target in one position on any card! You don't need to worry about a pesky second position in any sentence.***
When I say Rock, Paper, Scissors in one of my favorite speech games, , I actually mean mine. It’s fun, so I don’t get bored and I don’t have to talk anyone into playing and I get (almost) a million trials. I’ve had a lot of therapists tell me it works that way for them too This latest version is appropriate for readers from Gr. 2-8.
