Have students analyze any text with a fun found poetry activity. In this creative but analytical assignment, students read through the story and pull quotes they find intriguing, then refashion them to make a poem that expresses something interesting about the play -- a particular theme, character, symbol, feeling. Students must then justify their reasons for writing the poem as they did (what creative decisions did they make to express this theme? character? feeling?)
Provided in this document are instructions, example found poems from the teacher and students, and a graphic organizer. This is a fun activity you can do with any text!
