Based on our Moana movie review, parody song, these fun independent reading activities will keep your students engaged using song lyrics while they practice a variety of reading skills.

Students will listen to the song then use the song lyrics as a reading passage to complete the activities detailed below.

The song for these activities explores the culture and history behind the Moana movie, comparing the original, Islander folktales with Disney's story.

Accommodate your students using audio!

Do you teach EL/ESL or SPED students/SWDs? Have them use the songs as read-alouds with subtitles. Students can also slow down the songs to make listening and comprehension easier. Instructions are embedded into the activities for students.

Is this too "Disney" for some of my students?
