PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This PowerPoint contains 3 short plays and 2 commercials. The theme is Twisted Fairy Tales. They can be used for a variety of grade levels. Each play has 3-4 characters, which allows students to work in small groups and get more reading time in. Each commercial is for 1 reader. This is a great tool to practice repeated reading to build fluency.

3 Plays:
Jack and the Cornstalk
Three Little Wolves
The Goldilocks Diary

In addition to the scripts, there are 5 questions about literary devices (high school level) at the end, a table to complete and compare the story elements of all three plays (elementary/middle school level), and a writing activity at the end to challenge students (all grade levels). You can pick and choose the questions that would be appropriate for your grade level. Another option would be to have the students draw the characters and scenery, then replace the ones provided in this PowerPoint.

I am a HS Title 1 Reading teacher, but I have taught K-12 Reading. I recently used this with my High School Reading students, and they performed the plays to Kindergarten and 1st Grade students. They really enjoyed this and begged to do more! Depending on your students' reading levels, this could be used for grades 2-12.
