Here is a set of 4 Reading Response Activities for your students to complete. They will work in Guided Reading groups, homework, projects, or independent work.
1st activity: Make a postcard Your student will read a book and then follow the directions to make a postcard. The skills that this activity focuses on is characters and setting.
2nd activity: Journal of emotions: Your students will keep a journal of their emotions for a day. Then, they will compare it to a character in a book and discuss similarities and differences. The skills that this activity focuses on is understanding characters.
3rd activity: Author matrix. The students will read between 2-4 books by the same author and be able to compare/contrast them on a matrix. Then, there are questions to answer. Skills that this activity focuses on: comparing literature
4th activity: Biography Tic Tac Toe. The students will read a biography and be able to choose to complete 3 activities about the book they read.
These can all be an in class projects or a home projects.
