This is a 5 page fun lab activity that involves speed, velocity, and acceleration. It's a large group project that provides duties for everyone involved. Students will need access to a gym and some small scooters that most gym teachers have access to. Groups will accelerate their scooter across the gym, record information, and graph the results. There are also analysis questions to help students understand what information the acceleration graph provides.
This takes about 2 days to complete (at least). One day to do the lab and another day to determine the velocities, graph, and answer the questions.
This document is on word, so you can feel free to alter it to better meet the needs of your class. I was fortunate to have 2 small classes (14 students in each), so I had 2 groups of 7. It is essential for multiple people in a group because multiple timers are needed.
I used this activity with my 8th grade physical science but can certainly be adapted for younger or older ages.
