There are seven pages with three fables on each page for a total of 21 fables included in this set. The fables are printed inside boxes and can be printed on card stock and cut out, or you can simply place the pages inside page protectors and put them in a binder. Students will read the fable, define any underlined words, and then either analyze the moral by putting it in their own words or write a moral (if there is not one). Next, students will complete a comic strip for the fable.
We use these as one of the literacy centers in our classrooms. Literacy centers are perfect to use during guided reading, for student-centered learning days, for early finish work, or simply for fun Fridays! There are directions with pictures included for you to use this resource as a center and a page of frequently asked questions for your students to reference while using these fables at a center.
If you do not use literacy centers, these fables can be used for early finisher work, as homework assignments, or as fun classwork assignments. They are also perfect for emergency substitute plans.
