Description

How to use:
The poems can be used for literacy stations with the poem posted and then students do the scavenger hunt or copied on sentence strips to use in a pocket chart. Students could use the poem to put the sentence strips in the pocket chart to match the poem and then do the scavenger hunt. The poems and scavenger hunt could be copied for each individual student to complete as independent work or as a whole group. The teacher could use the document camera to display the poem to the entire class and do the scavenger hunt together. The poems and scavenger hunt could also be used as a small group activity or as a needs based lesson. They are also excellent for review of nouns, verbs, compound words, contractions, reading comprehension, spelling, and vocabulary. If you use the poems in a station, laminate for durability for future use.
