Product Description
Your students will enjoy playing these three vehicle-themed games to work on the easier subtraction facts.

These three activities are aligned to the Common Core State Standards:
* KOA.5 Fluently add and subtract within 5
* 1OA.6 Add and subtract within 20, demonstrating fluency for addition and subtraction within 10
* 2OA.2 Fluently add and subtract within 20 using mental strategies.

The following subtraction facts are the focus of these games:
- 0 facts through 5 - 0
- 1 facts through 6 - 1
- 2 facts through 7 - 2
- 3 facts through 8 - 3
- 4 facts through 9 - 4
- 5 facts through 10 - 5

** The first activity in this product is a Slug Bug (POW) flashcard game. Make 2 copies of the subtraction fact cards and one copy of the special cards. Place cards in a basket or cute can. Students take turns drawing cards and saying the differences. If they draw a special card, they must follow the directions on that card. The player with the most cards at the end of play is the winner.

**The second game is called Subtract From Six. In this game, players roll one die and subtract that number from 6. They cover the difference on the game board with cubes/counters. You can play it like the Bump game (bumping each others counters/cubes off) or make the rule that once a spot is covered, it cannot be bumped off. To keep things interesting (we play Bump a lot), we usually play that once the spot is covered, it cannot be moved.

**Finally, there is a Bump game that helps students practice these easier subtraction facts. In this game, students take turns drawing subtraction fact cards and saying the differences. They cover each difference with a counter or other game piece. If another player has that space covered, it can be “bumped” off. The only way to secure a spot is to get two counters on that spot. The first player to use all of their counters is the winner. We usually have hundred charts, number lines, or scrap paper available.

**The game cards from Slug Bug or Bump can be copied and used as individual flashcard sets for students as well/
