Product Description
UPDATE: I added even more activities to this bundle!

Additional Activities:
*added a QR code card for "Pack Your Sled Scavenger Hunt" to view a video (via safeshare) to go along with the activity

*pawprint templates available, with suggested uses

*Musher bios to display for student information and selection - I picked 10, from previous winners, student favorites, and top 5 from 2016 finish (available in both PDF as well as Powerpoint, so you can edit and add any other favorite mushers!). Information for each came from iditarod.com (including musher's picture)

*QR cards for informational videos about the Iditarod and dog sledding. Some videos also available on my wiki page: www.secondaryfoxes.wikispaces.com (QR code videos streamed thru safeshare)

*Updated "Miles to Nome" cards for both southern and northern routes

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These are activities I used along with my unit about the Iditarod with my library students (PK-5)

Included are:
*printable bookmarks: several to color that focus on huskies, dog sleds, and Alaska, Togo, Balto, and Gary Paulsen

*matching game for lower grades that also includes public domain photos of dog sled racing/Iditarod/Alaska to use for display or for teaching

*Pack Your Sled Scavenger Hunt: a checklist for what you need for your sled to race the Iditarod trail, as well as photo cards with labels that you hang up around the room. It's fun to see how many items students can find within a time period to pack their sled!

*Miles to Nome: Cards that can be used with an Alaskan map where students have to put the cards in order by how many miles it is to Nome (decreasing order) and find those checkpoints on the map!

I used these in conjunction with books about the Iditarod as well as short video clips.
