Early childhood educators know the value of play in classrooms, however with ever increasing standards, many teachers are forced to remove their dramatic play areas in their classrooms.
With this supplemental kit, you will be able to show your administrator the value of dramatic play on both a social and academic level.
In this edition of the “Fun in the….” Series, the focus is on the grocery story.. Set your dramatic play area up as a grocery store! Invite parents to donate non-perishable food item to stock your grocery store that you can later donate to your local food pantry. Gather shopping baskets, small shopping carts, re-usable grocery bags, cash register, play money, and coupons clipped from the Sunday paper
Add in the activities of this kit, and you will have math and literacy activities for your kiddos as well as social play!
When your principal walks in and says, “why are they playing?”, simply show him/her the common core standards these activities meet!
Common Core Correlations are included!
