This product is a set of 10 friendly letters written to and from characters that young students would know and recognize, and about topics related to the shows/movies those characters are from.
However, there is a problem with all these letters. Each letter is missing 1 or more parts of a friendly letter (e.g. date, greeting, introduction, body, conclusion, closing, signature or spelling/grammar/punctuation). It is the students job to find the missing elements! For some of the letters the missing greeting or closing make it a fun game to figure out which character the letter is to or from. A great way to engage younger learners!
Recommendation: In my classroom, I had my students in partners based on ability, and they worked together to figure out one of the 10 letters. I gave the more challenging letters to my higher flyers. I also had the success criteria we had created together opened up on the Smartboard so that they had a reference. Once all the students were finished, I had them come up to the class with their partner, present their letter and what was missing, and explain the importance of why we should make sure that part is never missing (e.g. without a signature the reader doesn't know who the letter is from!)
