This packet contains several beach-themed activities for Fun in the Sun! It features 6 activities across three general skill areas: Phonemic Awareness, Grammar, and Categorization.
• Phonemic Awareness: Within the area of phonemic awareness, there are three activities for rhyming, syllable segmentation, and sound/symbol awareness.
• Grammar: Within the area of grammar, there are two cloze-style activities that focus on irregular plurals and irregular past tense forms.
• Categorization: Within the area of categorization, there is one activity that relates to using beach-themed visuals to create groups and categories.
These materials were developed by SLP’s for use in the speech therapy setting, but have also been used within regular and special education classrooms, literacy groups, and ESOL classes.
The included activities target receptive and expressive language skills for elementary level students (pre-school to grade 3). Materials can be used in a variety of ways to address speech-language needs, address common core standards, and to make learning fun.
