This product includes some great activities to keep your students thinking on day when they might otherwise be distracted! The packet/ presentation is designed to give your students background information and have them think, write, share and discuss fears and superstitions, as well as abbreviations, initialism and acronyms. Why not have a little fun while learning? The packet includes background information on Friday the 13th- including how often it occurs, the origins of the fear of both the number 13 and the sixth day of the week, and how many people suffer from this fear. There is information about superstitions and 10 ways to avoid bad luck as well as questions for students and video links for further discussion. Next, the lesson moves to what are the types of abbreviations and how we use them and asks students to complete task cards using different acronyms for FEAR and then creating some of their own. As an added bonus I have included some "would you rather" questions for students regarding fears and superstitions.
