This fun teaching pack is a great way to introduce or review probability with your students.
The powerpoint includes three full class practice example questions, and two pair-work practice problems with three questions each.
Students begin by participating in ladybug races and recording their rolls and winners. Students analyze their data and complete a series of activities that practice:
-Determining median, mode, and range
Also included is a set of sentence frames to help your ELLs discuss probability using the appropriate vocabulary. Additionally, I have included standard alignments, teacher instructions, student materials, and questions. Just add number cubes (dice)!
The items included in this bundle can be purchased separately:
-Fun with Probability Powerpoint Presentation
-Fun with Probability: Ladybug Races and other Probability Activities
Though my district begins probability in 4th grade right now, it is not covered in Common Core until 7th grade. The NCTM standards begin probability in 3rd-5th, so I have listed the grade range as 3-7. Please check the preview and ensure that it is appropriate for YOUR students before purchasing. Originally used with ELLs and is also aligned with WIDA ELD standards.
Please note that the powerpoint presentation is read-only.
Any claims of correlation or alignment to the WIDA ELD Standards are solely those of Tools for Teachers by Laurah J. and have not been evaluated by WIDA.
