This resource consists of 5 games and 4 rounding mini-posters that are aligned to 3rd and 4th grade Common Core standards. The games are as follows:
Game #1: Nearest 10 - kids must draw 3 or 4 number cards, lay them on a place value mat, record the number on their score sheets, then round the number to the nearest 10. Partners use calculators to check each other's answers; players are instructed to discuss incorrect answers with their partner and then correct them on their worksheet. Person with the most points wins. Includes: 2 task cards (1 for using a deck of cards, the other for using number cards), student worksheet, place value mat, and 2 pages of number cards.
Game #2: Nearest 100 - has the same rules and similar printables to Nearest 10, but students are required to round 4 digit numbers to the nearest hundred.
Game #3: Between the Lines #1 - Nearest 10. Partners lay a set of number line cards down on the floor, then take turns sorting 2-digit numbers onto the correct number lines. (Each number line card represents and interval of 10). Players then take one number card from each number line, record the number on their worksheet, write down which "tens" the number falls between (i.e. between 10 and 20), and round it to the nearest 10. Partners use calculators to check each other's work. The player with the most points wins. Includes: task card, student worksheet, number line cards, and number cards.
Game #4: Between the Lines #2 - Nearest 100. Has the same format as the previous game. Includes number line cards that represent intervals of 100, 3-digit number cards, a task card, and a student worksheet.
Game #5: Round the Bases. Kids spin a spinner, draw a card, then round the number on the card. If the other players decide they are correct, they can move forward on the baseball diamond game board. The first person to get back to home base wins. Includes 24 "nearest 10" cards, 24 "nearest 100" cards, and blank template cards for nearest 10 and nearest 100.
