Shape and fine motor control practise – Fun with Shapes – ‘Tricky Transport’
In this pack you will find 4 fun modes of transport to make – ‘Lorry’, ‘Choo-choo train’, ‘Chopper’ and ‘Push bike’. Students cut and paste the shapes to match each little picture in the top corner of the page. Students practise their scissor skills while working on their shapes. Each shape has a dotted line to cut around.
This activity is an interesting one to see how students are able to carefully observe the picture and copy it and to see how developed their spatial awareness is. I have found my students love these activities and with practise become better at rotating and manipulating the shapes to make them correctly match the picture and to overlap them correctly where necessary.
Extend your students by asking them to name and describe the shapes used in their pictures. Or, graph the shapes used and compare the data with the other transport pictures.
Alternatively, remove the small picture from the top right corner and students can create their own vehicle!
