Let your students have fun while comparing, contrasting, expanding numbers up to 50 using tens frames and base ten blocks. This unit very little prep work for the teacher and simple enough for students to use with little direction from the teacher. Simply copy onto a heavy paper, laminate for longer use, and cut out. The activities are flexible and can be used for small group instruction, in a pocket chart, in cooperative groups or independent practice at a learning station. Unit even contains several worksheets for independent practice and/or homework. These are tried and true activities used in my first grade classroom. Meets Common Core State Standards for Kinder and First Grade in Numbers and Operations in Base Ten.
