Use the stimulus of this very special season to engage and motivate students and enhance their literacy skills. This literacy resource can be used to introduce new skills or revise those already covered. No preparation required – all the resources contain a PowerPoint lesson and differentiated worksheets.
The resources include
1. Meet the 'Christmas Missing Letter Detective' – PowerPoint lesson and resources on the apostrophe for omission / contraction . It includes a fully editable, highly visual and interactive PowerPoint (28 slides) explaining how to use the apostrophe for omission and contraction, differentiated worksheets and an explanation sheet. All worksheets contain learning targets and afl box.
2. ‘Meet the Christmas Crowd Controller’ – PowerPoint lesson on how to use commas in lists with sentences. This engaging and interactive Power Point Lesson is ' presented' by the punctuation character 'The Crowd Controller' - The Comma. The resource contains 12 highly interactive slides on how to use the comma in lists and accompanying differentiated worksheets to reinforce the skill of using commas.
3. ‘Elfabetical Order’ – PowerPoint Lesson on alphabetical order. Santa’s Elves visually demonstrate and explain alphabetical order via a fully editable, interactive and colourful 13 slide PowerPoint explaining alphabetical order up to four letters and complete with differentiated worksheets. The first set alphabetical order by the first letter only. The second set more challenging involving looking at the second, third and fourth letter. The worksheets also contain a section for comments on what went well, next targets and a ‘level of support’ indicator.
4. ‘Special Delivery by Santa’ - a PowerPoint Lesson and Resources on Making Plurals. The PowerPoint explains the rules for making plurals for regular nouns - adding 's', - nouns ending in 'ch' , 'sh', 'x' and 's', - nouns ending in 'f' and 'fe' - change 'f' to 'v' and add 'es', - nouns ending in 'y' preceded by consonant - change 'y' to 'i' and add 'es'; differentiated worksheets, information and fact sheet on making plurals including exceptions.
