This presentation covers the steps involved in solving function inverses using a list or table of coordinates, a graph and/or algebra.
The presentation package includes very detailed animations for each slide. This not only serves to explain in detail the steps involved in solving function inverses but also keeps the students engaged and focused while they review them. I have used the attached presentation in each of my Standard and Honors Math 3 / Algebra 2 classes when first covering this topic. I always print out a hard copy of the slide package for my students to use as I am going through the presentation. This allows them to fill in some of the blanks that are noted on the slides and also provides space for them to write any notes they choose from my instructional lesson. Multiple function inverse examples are included and completely solved. These examples demonstrate for the student the 3 typical solution techniques that involve the use of coordinate lists, tables, graphs and algebra. The final slide in slide pack includes 3 additional problems for the students to solve to confirm their understanding of the material and the differing solution techniques. The native MS PPT presentation file is included to allow the teacher to modify the file as desired.
