This lesson addresses the definition and skill of describing the function of possessive, interrogative, and demonstrative pronouns in a sentence. (Common Core State Standard, 3rd Conventions 1.a.) This lesson features the following elements: definition with examples, teacher model problems, strategies, guided practice, exit problems, and a student (independent) practice worksheet. Prerequisite skills: an understanding of possessive and personal pronouns. According to the Common Core State Standards (L1.1d), students in 1st grade are expected to use personal, possessive, and indefinite pronouns (e.g., I, me, my; they, them, their; anyone, everything).
