This file contains materials I created for a unit project on functions and graphing in 2006. This multi-step project requires research, writing and group collaboration, in addition to both in- and out-of-class time. It is a real-world problem-based learning project about cell phone usage and plan options.
Unit: Algebra 1 Functions & Graphing
Required Skills: Writing multi-step equations to represent real world relationships; graphing two-variable equations on the coordinate plane.
Several materials are included:
Pages 1-2: Project overview, including suggested timeline for embedding into your class schedule.
Page 3: Handout of due dates and project grading requirements for students
Page 4: Cell phone plan data, circa 2006
Page 5: Student handout for cell phone usage tracking
Page 6: Student handout/guided lesson plan for determining cell phone plan equations
