Fill in the blanks summary of the poem.
A useful resource for revision or for teaching the story of the poem to weaker students. This is an active learning task where students must work to complete the summary of the poem. It's not as difficult for students as asking them to write their own synopsis. The cloze format provides scaffolding to help jog their memories (if used for revision) or just help to get started.
This could be used as in-class assignment, for homework, for revision/notes, or as a test. With 25 words slots to be filled, it is easy to work out a grade if used as assessment.
A word bank is provided to assist students. You could redact this to make the activity more challenging.
The task consists of a single page. Page 2 has a printout of the text of the poem, which students could use to help them with the activity.
