Brought to you by Kodaly Music With Mrs Perry, this spooky treat is one of Charles Gounod's most well known pieces. MP3's are embedded throughout the file. Here, it is used for rhythmic purposes: practicing timka and learning triplets.
Here is what you get:
*RHYTHM - practice ta, timka...prep triplets and practice triplets
*BACKGROUND - information on Gounod is provided, along with a photo of him, works composed, parents, dates and current events.
*DANCE - a puppet dance is included. I partner up my students and provide each set with 4 long pieces of yarn that are pre-looped. Students choose who will be the puppeteer and who will be the puppet. The puppet puts a loop over each foot and hold one in each hand. The puppeteer takes the other ends and "pulls" the puppets arms and legs into place during the dance. Then they trace roles. This is designed to have them feel the triplets, as well as see them on the screen. It is a TOTAL HOOT!! My kids love this one.
There are 8 pages. Two for background on Gounod, two each for the dance, prepare pages and actual notation pages. It takes two pages to get through the main theme. Therefore, this file is set up in Dual Page View, allowing visual continuity during the lesson. There are screens put on each of the second pages, allowing you to control what and when students view it.
Since this is an Interactive Smartfile, the students can tap on the beats where the triplets are located. The beats will either light up, move or provide a verification sound each time.
