A full unit on the Canadian Fur Trade. Students work to answer 4 essential questions which are written on posters at the beginning of the unit. Divide your class up into the two dominate fur trade companies, the Northwest Company and Hudson's Bay Company and have them compete at different activities throughtout the unit to see who deserves to survive the amalgamation of 1812. Or, as an extension have your students write the ending to the Chasse-Galerie, a famous voyageur campfire story.
