FUTURE ME LETTER AND GOAL SETTING (See Preview)
If you looked around the room and pointed out everything that is red…look for red…look for red. Now, what if I told you to close your eyes and tell me everything that is red, you would begin to name the many red items + near red items. However, if at that instant I were to ask you to tell me things that were blue, you would have greater difficulty. This is because when we focus on something, we tend to find more of it and almost ignore everything else.
This is a similar issue many of us experience with negative thinking. The more negative we are in our thoughts, the more negative things we will begin to notice in our lives and dominate our thinking.
The emphasis of this classroom has been on growth and your task will be to write a letter to your future selves to remind yourself of the positives in life: goals, role models, and motivations.
-Use appropriate decision-making and planning processes to set goals.
