A complete unit on forms of the future tense using "will", "be + going to" and present progressive used to express future tense. The Socratic design of this unit changes your role as a teacher from lecturer to learning facilitator as students discover the rules of the future tense for themselves. Activities and purposeful questions lead students to understand what future tense is, how it can be created using three different structures, and how they can write their own sentences using the future tense.
The teacher's guide identifies an objective for each mini-lesson, explains which pages the students will complete, and provides a preparation list and estimated teaching time to make your planning easy.
The 7-page unit is divided into 4 sections of approximately 30 minutes each. These could be taught separately or combined for a longer class period. Students could work in small groups, in pairs, or independently. Instructions, student sheets, and teacher's guide are all included.
This is a lesson I will ask my principle to observe!
