This document is designed to facilitate the introduction and anticipatory set for a discussion regarding components of wellness and factors that influence our wellness. I use it in a 10-12 level nutrition and wellness course, but it could easily fit into any health related course or unit.
Students roll a die and whatever number they roll is crossed off in the first box. They continue to roll until there is only one selection left in the first box (if a number is rolled again, the student re-rolls). When each box has only one selection remaining, the teacher can ask students to compare results, discussing which items in each box were more positive outcomes. Teacher should then guide the discussion to indicate that without health/wellness goals, often individuals may not have as desirable outcomes in their health/wellness.
