This superbly designed Futurism Powerpoint centers on the art styles known as Futurism. The lesson starts with a Do Now for students to begin thinking about what they see, practicing the description portion of art criticism.
Students are introduced to the major characteristics of Futurism as well as two major Futurist artists, Giacomo Balla and Umberto Boccioni. Students are able to view and discuss a number of Futurist paintings and sculptures, understanding the styles of each artist and each art style as a whole. At the end of the presentation, there is an informal quiz to check for student understanding. They may answer independently or work as a group. Lastly, students are asked to reflect on their lesson, making a judgment on the style as a whole. More importantly they are asked to back up their opinion with valid reasons.
