I'm always looking for ways for to help students remember historical facts. Our state requires extensive, content based exams in history, so it is important that students retain key terms and remember names and events. I've found that alphabet books are one of the best ways to help students remember words and names. Students enjoy making the books, and since they must create a visual and a sentence for each word or name, it helps them remember those words. Students can create individual books or they can work together in groups, with each student working on a few words or names. This instruction sheet includes A-Z words about Mahatma Gandhi. This is a great activity to prepare for writing an essay about Gandhi.
