Product Description
In this series of lessons designed for 4th-8th grade gifted and talented students, we examine the 8th Great Gripe of Gifted Kids—“we worry about world problems and feel helpless to do anything about them.” These lessons are full of best practices in gifted education through a lively exchange and, of course, referenced to Common Core State Standards.

Use all of the lessons for a rich classroom experience, or pick and choose individual pieces. Students respond to literature, analyze primary sources for a historical perspective on polio and the polio vaccine, use graphic organizers to write an explanatory essay, and create a “miracle medicine” product and accompanying advertisement for an attractive hallway display.

In this bundled lesson, you’ll get a reading passage which can be reproduced for the class, discussion questions and graphic organizers, an evaluation rubric, and samples and explanations which lead you through the process.
