This is a double-sided document used to teach students how to factor by pulling out the Greatest Common Factor. The first page begins by having the student define what it means to factor. Then the student is given step by step directions on how to factor out the GCF by using upside down division.
If you have never seen or heard of the upside down division method, it is the best way to teach how to factor out the GCF!! Students have such a hard time figuring out what the GCF is in order to factor it out in traditional methods. Check out the preview to see how this method works. It's fabulous and works every time!
The student and teacher talk and read through the first example, then the student follows the steps and tries an example on their own. There is a space at the bottom of the first page used to talk about the GCF versus any old factor. Super important!!
Finally, the back continues with 6 more examples to be used as guided practice. Included are binomials and trinomials (all can only be factored by pulling out the GCF). Key included.
