Who will be the first to earn their U.S. History Black Belt and/or their Geography Black Belt in your class this year? These year-long challenges will test your students' knowledge of U.S. History and World Geography while giving them a goal to aim for!
What I do is give kids a key ring to attach to their notebook. When they attain a belt, I give them a colored piece of string that matches the belt they are at. Sort of like a little badge of honor for them to carry around.

: Identify the Countries of Africa
: Identify the Countries of Europe
These quizzes all come with a numbered political map, a student answer sheet, and a teacher answer key. I've also included an editable file to change the order of the belts for you to best meet the needs of your classroom.
