GERMAN VOCABULARY 99 WORDS AND PHRASES PRACTICE AND REVISION GAMES AND ACTIVITIES (4) help students develop and embed their beginning GERMAN vocabulary in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, with a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and basic writing and spelling.
They’re ideal for independent learning, and perfect for pair and small-group work. Students can quiz/test themselves and each other on a regular basis - they're a very popular alternative to more traditional vocabulary 'drilling tasks', and really do help to create a lively language learning environment.
This set features 99 BEGINNING WORDS AND PHRASES that students are likely to meet in the introductory stages of their GERMAN learning; it's a great complementary resource in terms of progression to other sets in the series, but works perfectly well as a standalone resource too:
- die Zahlen 61-80
- die Uhrzeit (1)
- Adjektive (1)
- Essen und Getränke (1)
- Fragen und Antworten (4)
I've described the resource as suitable for Grades 4-10, but it does depend on the age at which your students begin GERMAN - the games/activities work well with any appropriate learning group. The resource comprises four individual non-editable files:
GERMAN and ENGLISH game cards, with all the words and phrases to use in a variety of games and including the QUIZ CARD TEMPLATE; I've suggested a range of games/activities that have worked well for me
A REFERENCE, RECALL AND WRITE BOOKLET, with a GERMAN-English reference list of all words and phrases and TWO CHILLOUT CHALLENGES:
- recall and write from GERMAN to ENGLISH
- recall and write from English to GERMAN, giving students
opportunity to develop their writing and spelling
TWO CHAMPION CHALLENGES
- this dual challenge requires students to write all the words and
phrases in random order from each language category, switching
from GERMAN to English and vice versa at every question
A PRACTICE/QUICK QUIZ whole-group activity, useful as a warm-up, starter or plenary across the entire school year, keeping the vocabulary fresh. A great revision activity before tests/exams too. I've included a bonus pdf version of this activity too, so that students can work independently on a tablet or similar device, and which you can also use if you're homeschooling
