In this lesson students will use the SEE THINK WONDER strategy on Gold Rush images. This encourages students to make careful observations and thoughtful interpretations of primary sources. This thinking routine will be used on 5 images and one letter. The HOOK activity will get students interested in the learning phase of this lesson.
Next, students will use the reading material answer some questions to show what they have learned. The final EXIT ticket requires students to demonstrate understanding by completing a twitter conversation with John Sutter, James Marshall and a 49er.
