This product is a GOOGLE DOCS version of my Presidential Election product (The Presidential Election) that helps students understand the process by which a U.S. President is elected. It is probably best used with gifted or advanced students. It covers things like the political parties and what they represent, the role of the media, propaganda, the Electoral College vs popular vote, and much more. Assignments are given for each idea addressed, some more extensive than others. There is even a debate about conservatism vs. liberalism. All assignments are best when discussed in class, as well as at home. Every attempt has been made to be as objective, fair, and factual as possible. The main emphasis is the idea of being informed and knowing the reasons behind a decision to vote for any candidate. Students are encouraged to "do their homework," to think for themselves, to show respect to differing opinions, and to not be afraid of differences.
