Description
Trying to teach GRADE 5 FORCES ACTING ON STRUCTURES AND GRADE 6 FLIGHT to a split/combined grade 5/6 class? This Hands-On, Minds-On Science and Technology resource contains everything you need to introduce, engage and assess your students in learning about these topics from the 2022 Ontario Curriculum Science and Technology. Grade 5 students will analyse social and environmental impacts of forces acting on structures, and assess ways to mitigate these impacts as well as analyse the effects of forces from natural phenomena on structures in natural and built environments. Grade 6 students will discover that flight occurs when the characteristics of structures take advantage of certain properties of air. They will then apply their newly acquired knowledge to design and test a flying device. Included are vocabulary/concepts building activity, educational science and technology concepts posters, topic/concepts readings, hand-on activities/experiments/investigations and an assessment of learning test for each grade.
These resources align with the expectations for:
Grade 5: FORCES ACTING ON STRUCTURES – { Strand D: 2022 Ontario Curriculum}
Grade 6: FLIGHT – {Strand D: 2022 Ontario Curriculum}
