I made this game for a few of my young students who were struggling to grasp the concept of reading for meaning. It is a very basic reading comprehension game requiring children to think about what they read. For kids to play independently they will need a 1st -2nd grade reading level. However, it worked great in preschool when I read for the kids. I'm thinking it could be useful for ELL (English Language Learners) and Speech teachers as well (receptive language/vocab). So far, every kid I’ve played this with has absolutely loved it! The gist of the game is to help Granny remember what she needs to buy at the grocery store. The children read the hint cards and try to guess what she needs using as few hints as possible. Then they pick out the picture of that food and stick it in her cart.
