Great quality and value for this whopping 324 page unit on graphing!

The unit features highly interactive activities on creating and interpreting bar graphs, pictographs, line graphs, line plots and pie charts.

Data is collected and interpreted using concrete materials such as visuals, dice, spinners, coins and other real-life objects and contexts. Further details about the graphs featured in this pack are:

1. BAR GRAPHS THE ULTIMATE COLLECTION

This is a 107 page collection of pictographs and bar graphs. Interactive activities enable students to move from working with the concrete to understanding the abstract. There are 29 graphing activities in this section that target collecting and interpreting data and conducting surveys.

Graphs target students of different ability levels and are categorized into two main sections:

A. WORKING WITH THE CONCRETE:
Activities involve using concrete materials such as pictures, dice, spinners, coins and smarties/M&M'S to collect, tabulate, graph and interpret data in bar/column graphs.

B. WORKING FROM THE CONCRETE TO THE ABSTRACT
Activities involve graphing given tabulated data and interpreting graphed data. Students title the axes and draw up a scale in intervals.

C. OUR CLASS BAR GRAPHS COLLECTION
This set of bar graphs require students to conduct surveys to collect and tabulate data. They then graph the data on a grid, record findings and write down two questions to ask a friend. The first few graphs have the scale drawn and the intervals marked, however in consecutive graphs students draw up their own scale and mark the intervals.

D. SPINNERS AND FLASHCARDS
This section contains blank spinners for students to color and create their own data to be graphed. Mathematical language in flashcards contain 39 key vocabulary words used when working with bar graphs.

2. LINE GRAPHS
This is a 62 page section on Line Graphs that contains highly visual interactive activities to collate, record and interpret data in line graphs. There are 8 sets of line graphs in this section. Each graphing activity includes the following:
✓ a given scenario or problem
✓ visual picture cards
✓ a line graph template with scale intervals marked
✓ a line graph template with scale intervals unmarked
✓ a task card including questions to interpret data collected
✓ an answer sheet

Task sheets require students to interpret data on created graphs and target a variety of questions related to addition, subtraction and finding the mean of numbers.

3. LINE PLOTS
This is a 62 page comprehensive section on Line Plots that covers all key mathematical concepts and strategies to collate and display data in fractions of a unit using interactive materials like visual cards, dice, spinners and real-life data. This unit is aligned with the Common Core Standards 4.MD.B4 and 5.MD.B2 that outlines displaying a data set of measurements in fractions of a unit (1/2, 1/4, 1/8) and solving problems involving addition and subtraction of fractions by using information presented in line plots. There are 16 activities in this section that target the acquisition of key graphing skills. This section also includes an answer sheet for each graphing activity.

4. PIE CHARTS BUNDLE (TASK CARDS AND PRINT-N-GO SHEETS)
This 90 page unit on Pie Charts features a combination of task cards and print-n-go sheets to facilitate students to collate, record and interpret data in pie charts. Content in both formats is similar with an addition of two more graphs in the task card section, this is so you can have a choice of using either the task cards or the print-n-go sheets. Work in this unit is divided into two sections:

I. Reading and Interpreting Pie Charts
Data sets are represented in fractions and percentages. Students interpret data represented in tally tables and pie charts. Each graphing activity includes target questions that interpret data and is accompanied with an answer sheet. There is also a black and white version of the represented pie chart for each graphing activity. There are seven graphing activities in this section.

II. Constructing Pie Charts
Activities in this section require students to represent data from tally tables, class surveys and hands-on materials like dice, spinners, smarties and coins in pie charts. Step-by-step instruction facilitates the construction of the proportion of each sector that make up a pie chart using a protractor. There are nine graphing activities in this section.

In addition:
→ Each graphing section features flashcards containing key vocabulary used when working with graphs.

→ Activities in each graphing pack are aligned to the Common Core Standards.

→ can also buy these graphing packs individually from my store. Save by purchasing this bundle!
