This is my version of the GROUPS acronym anchor chart/poster idea seen on pinterest. My red and black paws themed poster is on display in the front of my classroom and is referred to often. It has been a tremendous management tool for me as we do more and more small group projects and activities in the classroom. Before breaking into groups, my students will often hear me start with, "Give me a G!" to which someone raises a hand and reads the first line of the poster- G- give thoughtful feedback. We continue through R, O, U, P, S until they are reminded of all the major behaviors that are expected when working with others rather than independently. I always add verbally that the S for stay with your group means physically (your body is at the table/area with your group rather than wandering) and mentally (that your mind is on the task not daydreaming). I hope this is helpful in your classroom! Feedback is much appreciated!
