GROWTH MINDSET ACTIVITIES

Growth Mindset is a concept that is wildly popular right now...and for good reason. Investing time into helping your students develop a growth mindset will have a positive impact on all areas of academics, their outlook on learning and your classroom as a whole.

This print and go resource is full of easy-to-use activities to help you teach your students the importance of a growth mindset.

The concept of a growth mindset was developed by psychologist Carol Dweck in her book Mindset: The New Psychology of Success. According to Dweck, “a mindset is a self-perception or self-theory people feel about themselves.” The good news is that those with a fixed mindset can develop a growth mindset. Investing time to help the children you work with develop a growth mindset will not only improve your classroom environment, but will be one of the longest-lasting and beneficial ways you can impact your students’ future successes.

This resource includes tips for teachers as well as three different activities you can use to help foster a growth mindset. Included you’ll find…
Growth Mindset Thinking Chart: The Growth Mindset Thinking Chart includes 8 fixed thinking phrases. Students read the phrases and find a replacement phrase that promotes a growth mindset. There are 2 differentiated versions (one with lines and one without).

Quote Discussion Cards: The 30 cards each include a quote by someone famous about taking risks and / or making mistakes. Teachers can have their students discuss the cards with partners or in small groups. Alternatively, they can share a “quote of the day” and facilitate a class discussion.

Quote Reflection Prompts: Each of the 30 quoate reflection printables includes a quote and space for the student to write their thoughts, interpretations or reflections and to illustrate their thinking. These are perfect for creating class books or bulletin board displays.
