Print & Go Journal: This 76-page journal is straightforward and won't distract your hard-to-focus students. There's room in the margins for creativity and an open font title for those that like to color.

Slides: These slides are in PDF format and are optimized to project at the front of your class on a whiteboard, etc. This style works perfectly for bell ringers and for shrinking down into teacher-led discussion cards. Need a handy pile of time filler questions? This is it!

Need to make these into digital activities? CHECK OUT THIS FREE GUIDE on how to easily modify the PDFs in my store so that your students can use these on their computers and Chromebooks.

This makes a great Friday journal project to use the entire year or as daily bell ringers, but is also a fantastic resource to keep your students writing at the end of the year as a condensed unit.

The goal of this project is for your students to dig deep into their personal experiences, belief system, and bring to the forefront what makes them unique. At the end of this unit, your students will have a collection of all the themes to their own personal story.

This unit has been created with 76 different themes. Each topic has between 4 and 6 open-ended questions. Pick and choose the ones that will inspire your students. There is more than enough for an entire school year. This is a great ongoing project that can be added to daily, weekly, or as often as you see fit.

The topics included in this resource are thoughts, approval, the past, the present, the future, role models, quitting, regret, conflict, expectations, confidence, sympathy, pride, habits, opinions, civics, ethics, rights vs. privileges, love, happiness, marriage, children, kindness, generosity, sadness, high school, college, laws, religion, art, music, money, fear, imagination, goals, emotion, uniqueness, math, science, sports, books, history, government, technology, crime, stress, anger, personal fulfillment, personal boundaries, forgiveness, secrets, mistakes, laughter, friends, reality TV, war, funerals, social media, entertainment, nature, fun, celebrations, family, mortality, inspiration, beauty, sacrifice, gratitude, smiles, loyalty, honesty, resilience, ambition, practice, bravery, and empathy.

Grading:

Assign grades based on the thoughtfulness and thoroughness of your students’ answers. A complete answer to the main topic should be a grade-level standard paragraph that gives appropriate examples.

When the assignment is introduced, give each student a copy of the handout “The Themes of My Life: Project Guidelines.”

This project is meant to be creative and to open the minds of your students to thoughts that they really never gave much thought to… until now!

Encourage your students to be creative and to add relevant artwork, famous quotes, or poetry to their journals.
