The Math Terminology Reference Chart is a 9-page collection of math terms and concepts from arithmetic, algebra, and geometry that are commonly used in various math courses as well as those used on numerous state standardized tests. In our opinion, high school students should be familiar with each of the terms and concepts listed.
Terms and concepts are defined with easy-to-understand words. In addition, we have provided examples for clarification. Properties of real numbers and common math symbols are included. Students can access this resource for quick reference. We do not encourage students to memorize definitions but to recognize and accurately use these terms in appropriate situations.
This collection can be used as a reference in any math class, displayed as a poster in any math classroom, or reproduced for individual student use. This resource is a companion to Gaining Math Momentum and Gaining Math Momentum II WarmUps.
