Product Description
Here is sample data for a lab used to calculate the horizontal range of a projectile. Use the data found to complete the worksheet for the missing values.
Materials: 1 Stopwatch, 1 Marble, 1 U-channel, 1 meter stick, 1 cup
Procedure: A steel ball is rolled down a u-channel and off the table with a
horizontal velocity.
1. The student measures the u-channel distance and time it takes to complete this distance, to calculate the average velocity
2. The student then doubles the average velocity to find the final velocity. (Remember when that when Velocity Initial is zero, the final velocity is twice the average velocity by the averaging formula)
3. Measure the height of the lab table, and calculate the free fall time.
4. Using the range formula of d = t times Vin the x direction, calculate the range.
