This lesson(s) includes directions for how to design an engaging game. Mini-lessons focus on design theory, game mechanics, and how to write questions. It includes discussion prompts for both a pre-game warm up and post game reflection. Students grade themselves and each other using participation rubrics. Students also grade and critique each others games using a game design rubric and critique. This is an engaging unit that requires no paper grading by the teacher! This lesson also includes a few pages and examples for a game that was created about the silk roads, but the necessary pages are not specific to that lesson and are focused on game creation, so these lessons can be used for the creation of any game around any unit of study. I've also included a list of suggestions for other game themes to be used with this lesson.
