"Stadt, Land, Fluss" is a game that is very common in Germany. "Name, Place, Animal, Thing" is an English interpretation of this game. Students play this game in groups of 2 to 5. One of them says "start" and recites the alphabet in his/her mind until another player says "stop". The reciter then tells the other players the letter he was thinking of.
Then every player writes down a word for each category that starts with this letter. When one player is done writing down one word for each category he or she says "stop". All the other players have to stop writing. Every correct answer is rewarded with 10 points. If, however, two players wrote down the same word, they only get 5 points each. Then the next player thinks of a letter. The Player who has the most points after a couple rounds of the game would be considered winner.
