I created this game in 2006. It can be used with or without a
SmartBoard, as long as your have a projector and and PowerPoint. The template can be changed to fit any subject - El Riesgo is Spanish for "The Risk".
Directions: Each group should have 3-6 students.
Students get assigned a number 1-6.
Groups randomly select a letter/number combo. Click on the number - once in the question page - hit the space bar to reveal the instruction and question/s (animations included - add your own questions).
Once all students have read the question - roll a dice (this ensures all students are paying attention, and not just one person in each group). Once the number is rolled and announced, only that person can answer the question out loud or on a mini white board (that's what we use. If a group answers before the dice is rolled they are out for that round.
Once a group has answered correctly - it's a race, they get to choose - keep it or give it. If they keep the prize - they get it, if they give the prize away they have to assign it to another group. Once they decide - then hit the space bar to reveal the prize. Prizes include - points, bombs (takes away all points), silly challenges, etc, and can be changed by the purchaser. Don't show the prize before they keep it or give it!! That's the fun part!
In order to go into the final question - the groups must have points. Groups without points are out. The bonus is a timed question and anyone can answer. Before revealing the question - groups must risk at least half of their points!
Winner group has the most points after the final question!
