Students research the cost of attending the 4 year university of their choice for all 4 years and compare that to attending a community college for 2 years, then transferring to the university for the final 2 years. They use the average increase in tuition for the past 4 years for both schools to predict the tuition cost for the next four years.
Once they get both numbers, they research student loan costs.
They search for scholarships and research different grants available.
I love seeing their reaction when they find out exactly how expensive college is...and also how much money they can save by going to community college for a couple years first!
There is a Google Slides project at the end that you can choose to use as a test grade. Kids loved making the slides and presenting them to the class!
The notes are editable. There is also a completed example included.
