Included: Directions in card format and in display format for tables. Fifty playing cards with Harry Potter themed prompts (you will need to print, cut out, and laminate). Six pages of paper reading log variations of the game for use is reading is done at home before game play in class.
The cards are used intended to be used with books that students are reading. Knowledge of the Harry Potter stories is useful, but not required to play. This is a great strategy to motivate students to spend time on text during silent reading time instead of walking back and forth to the bookshelf choosing a different book.
Directions for four different variations of game play that work really great for small group reading, reading centers or stations, book clubs, literature circles, and even as a paper version to use in place of a traditional reading log. This is also a great activity for a class period in the library.
This game will get kids excited about reading AND interested in new books when quotes are shared by other readers during game play. Be prepared to hear murmurs of, "I want to read that."
As an added bonus-buy once and have access to all updates when I have ideas for additional cards or add new homework pages.
